A video editor assembles shot footage into a coherent, paced final cut — choosing which takes to use, how long to hold a shot, where to cut, and how sound, music and graphics support the story.

Editors increasingly need to be comfortable with basic colour grading, sound mixing and simple motion graphics, since smaller productions expect one person to finish the whole cut rather than handing off to specialists.
