THE FLAGSHIP · 650 HOURS
Become a game artist or XR developer
You have spent more hours studying a game's level design than most people spend playing it.

Proof in 30 seconds
650 hours across Unreal Engine 5 and Unity, with AR and VR included, ending in something people can actually play. Game art and level design are the roles studios here hire for most, so that is what the course is built around.

Game Artist

Level Designer

3D Asset Artist

Environment Artist
Illustrations of the kind of work this course builds towards, not student work. Photographs of real MAAC Whitefield student projects will replace them as batches graduate.
Is this you?
Tap whichever of these already sounds like you — there's no right answer.
What you'll make
Grounded in this course's real modules and software — not a placement promise.
Month 1
A greyboxed level you can walk through, with working collision and a lighting pass — playable in month one, which is the point.
Month 3
Your own props and modular kit modelled in Maya, sculpted in ZBrush and textured for real time in Substance 3D Painter.
Month 6
A dressed, lit and performance-budgeted level with interactive elements scripted in the engine.
Month 12
A packaged build plus one AR or VR piece, and a portfolio that shows the blockout as well as the beauty shot — which is what a level designer is hired on.
See it, don't just read about it
A 20-second level, built in code. Collect the pickups and notice the decisions a level designer made for you.

Most of this catalogue is a software and production craft, not a drawing exam — modelling, compositing, editing, level design and design tools are all taught from first principles. Where a course does lean on drawing (character design, storyboarding), it starts from basic shapes and construction, not raw talent.
